Text Box: The Story of PJ 911
In Sep 06, the Secretary received an email from a lady who had been walking in a remote part of the Pyrenees and discovered aircraft parts scattered about a hillside. She asked the local Mayor’s office if they had information on the crash. Amazingly they did ; click here to read a translation of the official French Report. The aircraft was a No 46 Sqn Sterling PJ 911 en route from Libya to RAF Stoney Cross which crashed on 24 March 1945.
Coincidently, less than a year later the Secretary received an enquiry from a relative of one of the pilots, Flt Lt Douglas, asking if we had any details of the crash—the wonders of the internet. Click here to see the letter.
